Odissi dancer Madhavi Mudgal and Ghazal maestro Hariharan share the stage in Kolkata

Art and music lovers of the city were in for a double bonanza recently at at a city auditorium as they got to witness two brilliant artistes — Odissi dancer Madhavi Mudgal and Ghazal maestro Hariharan come together on stage. Madhavi Mudgal got a huge round of applause after her performance to a packed auditorium. Her moves on Mangalacharan, Jagannathastakam, Abhinaya Ei Ghana Kalare and Kurujadunandana were highly appreciated.Post the event, the danseuse said, “It was indeed a great pleasure to perform here and I am very pleased with the kind of response I got.”Later, the audience was thrilled when Hariharan took the stage. The singer recalled his previous experience when he said, “It was great last time. I'm happy to be back once again. I am sure you’ll enjoy the evening,” he said. Hariharan’s soulful rendition of ghazal hits like Adhiniya atithi kabhi aisa, Kas aisa koi manzar hota and Ranjishi sahi left the audience asking for more.“The evening was enthralling enough as we not only heard Hariharan sing, but also witnessed a fantastic performance by Madhavi Mudgal,” said Bibhudatta Singh from the audience.
